Freedom Sales spent much of 2004 preparing for ISO registration. This
effort involved...
- Documentation and modification of core business processes
- Upgrades of equipment and facilities
- Extensive training for all employees
- Changes in management paradigms regarding quality
- Implementation of continuous quality improvement processes
- A significant financial and labor investment
During the entire process of preparation and registratrion, our goal was to
get more out of ISO than just a registration number. We wanted to use
the ISO methodology as a strategic advantage over our competitors in the
industry. Therefore we carefully reviewed ISO consulting firms at the
beginning of the process. The consulting firm we selected was very
rigorous in enforcing the ISO philosophy as opposed to encouraging just
enough effort to pass our audit.
When it came time to selecting a company to perform the audit, we chose BSI
based on their proven track record of implementing objective and thorough
audits. Our initial audit took place in late 2004. The audit went
well, with no major non-conformances and only two minor non-conformances.
Both minor non-conformances were quickly corrected.
On January 11, 2005, we were notified by BSI that our registration was
complete. We were an ISO certified supplier.
We were audited again in 2006, and passed.
It is our intent to maintain ISO compliance and registration. More
important, we intend to use the ISO methodology to continuously improve
our quality and bring our customers a higher level of satisfaction.
To that end, we have retained an independent ISO expert to review and update
our processes, and to critique our internal audit procedures.
